Excellent stuff - for all player levels

This video is a great tool, as it takes you very thoroughly from the fundamental technique all the way to very advanced approaches.

The instruction is concise and very clearly articulated, and Mr Sklarevski gives a very slow, steady introduction which becomes a bit faster later on in the video. All examples are shown slowly and then progressively faster, eventually leading into several groove sessions with a live band, where all the examples are used together in a peice of music.

Close-up dual screen shots enhance the viewer's experience by allowing you to see exactly what is being done, and where. Since the basics are introduced slowly, there is no chance for you to miss what was done.

Altogether, this is a wonderfully done instructional tape, with no interviews and the blah blah you would find in most other videos (or at least ALL of the other bass videos I've seen).

This thing shipped so fast, I expected at least a week, it came in like three days! I've had this bass for a couple of months now, and it's really fun. It's my first bass. Though it's not from some famous maker, it still catches the eyes of some of my friends with fancy $600 basses, and according to them, it's a nice bass (: And it really is. Unplugged it's not TOO loud, but it's enough for solo practice. Plug this baby in to an amp and it sounds awesome, the equalizer works nicely too. I guess one thing I would have liked is if there was a strap button on the opposite end, but you could always get one installed at a music shop for not too much money. If you've been interested in getting your first bass, I highly recommend this one. Or even if you already own an electric bass and just want an acoustic to have around, this thing works. I've had so much fun with this bass so far, and I would have to say it was so worth the money spent, which wasn't much!

PS. You might want to tighten the truss rod when you first get it (the tool is included), as the strings can be too loose and vibrate on the fingerboard when you play. After a little tightening, it should sound great. If you don't know how to adjust a truss rod, you could always go on youtube and watch demo videos. But it's really as simple as screwing something in.

I did have to take this into the shop to tighten the truss rod, since it's not a good idea to do it yourself, but that was fairly inexpensive and now my bass sounds wonderful. Plugged into an amp it has the most gorgeous sound, I wouldn't trade it for another any day. There's no knob by the neck to attach a strap to, but you can just tie one end of the strap at the end of the neck and it will work fine.
